I'm sleepy

        I feel sleepy all the week. The total time I spend on sleeping is about 12 hours from Monday to Friday. It really drives me crazy.

        It seems like every night there are some people chatting with others till the next day. I know that chatting or talking is their right, but I also know that talking in a loud voice and disturbing the people who are sleeping or going to sleeping is definitely not their right. On the contrary, it is their response to keep in a low voice that enough for them to hear and would not be heard  by others. I don't know why they are so active at night, probably because they don't have class at the next day morning. I also could not understand why they don't just speak in a low voice so that they would be happy to chat and we would be happy to sleep. Obviously it is not very hard for them to do, it also would not cost them any money or let them do a lot of work. And I have told them but it did not work. And chatting every night not only disturb me when I sleep but also when I study at night. The noise makes me can't concentrate on reading or testing sometimes. I consider a lot about these things, so I keep quite or in low voice all the time when I study. I'll talk to them again and maybe talk to the residence hall officer too, I just want to sleep enough and be active in classes tomorrow morning. 

        There are some people who are not chatting all night, but they have another problem. They watch TV and play video until very late. And it looks like they never use their earphone and always make a lot of noise when they play games. The problem is just like the first problem, that they don't have right to bother others. In addition, some people often make phone calls in a loud voice.It is really interesting that in China, I often hear the news remind us to be courtesy, because of some Chinese people did something dis-courteousness in other country. So it is the first time I found dis-courteousness behavior in the US. I am surprised. 

        Really hope that people can be friendly to each other and I can sleep enough. I am a student, I want to study and I don't want to be sleepy anymore.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival！

Sept 19th is the mid autumn festival in China and some other countries in eastern Asia this year. The time when is the mid autumn festival every year is determined by the lunar calendar, a calendar which is widely used in eastern Asia. Mid autumn festival is Aug 15th in lunar calendar each year. Chinese people believe it is the day when the lunar looks biggest, brightest and fullest in a year. The full moon symbolize family reunion in Chinese tradition, so we also call it the Festival of Reunion. In addition, because of the moon cake is the representative's food of the mid autumn festival, we call it the Moon cake Festival as well. It is so interesting that a festival has many names.Mid autumn festival is the second important festival in China, after the spring festival. It is  a public holiday too.

Mid autumn festival is similar to the time of harvest every year. For farmers, it is the festival to celebrate or pray for a good harvest. They will worship the god of the land. The god of the land is a kind old man who is believed to be in charge of harvest. May be nowadays, there is fewer and fewer farmer worship him in the mid autumn festival, because many farmer change their belief to agricultural science. But it is still a custom.

Enjoying the glorious full moon is another custom, it is different to the worshiping that most of people keep this custom every year. Full moon is really beautiful, and it is definitely so enjoyable when people admire the full moon with the cool wind at night. That is why people did not change this custom. Even with the help of modern technology, people create some new activities when they enjoy the full moon, now they like to take photos to the moon, have fun under the moon and record the happy hours by video. Some famous website will collect the photos of the moon in different cities which people post to the social network, and use them to make a photo wall. That is amazing.

What is the best thing we enjoy at the mid autumn festival? That is really really obvious. Of course, is the moon cake! Moon cake is the most famous Chinese traditional dessert all over the world. It is cute and look like the moon. It is sweet smelling and also sweet tasting. And there are so many kinds of moon cakes that is impossible to figure out the exact number. Some most famous kinds are red bean paste moon cake, lotus seed paste moon cake, and meet moon cake. They are all delicious. And do you know? We have ice-cream moon cake as well! Is it unbelievable? But it is true. The ice-cream moon cake was created six or seven years ago, and has become more and more popular these years. Please try some moon cake.

Virtual Singer

Have you listened to the song sung by virtual singer, Which means that the voice is from software? Maybe not, and maybe you thought that was strange. I'm a fan of the virtual singer. According to what I know, virtual singer is not very popular in the North America. Virtual singer is so popular in Asia, some virtual singer have more fans than human pop singer. But I'm happy to find that the virtual singer start to become more and more famous in the North America these years. For example, Google Chrome hired Hatsune Miku as their image ambassador in 2010. And the Hatsune Miku advertisement  Won Bronze in Cannes Lions. I also know that Hatsune Miku held the MIKUNOPOLIS concert in Los Angeles, 2011. 
To talk about the virtual singer, I must talk about the most popular virtual singer software, Vocaloid. Vocaloid enables users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody. In my opinion, that is really an amazing technology, it make the song don not need human singer anymore. And give the new chance to people who can write nice songs but not good at singing. And because there is not a human singer anymore, composers are so excited with that, it really improve the composer's status. When people talk about human singer, talk about "who's song", "who" must be the name of the singer here. But when people talk about the virtual singer, the "who" in "who's song" will be the name of the composer. It means that the composer connect to fans directly, enable the composer to have fans and praise like pop singer.  That's why more and more composer join in the virtual singer company now. And having lots of composer is the reason why a virtual can publish thousands of songs a year while a human singer only publish 10 to 20 songs a year. 
From my point of view, this technology make an explode in music market, the amount of songs increase so fast that make people feel unbelievable about . I like it because it shows the spirit of freedom, cooperation, and justice. It enables almost everyone to write songs, without limits, more people write songs they want to write, while pop singer may be told to change their songs by their company to make more money. It puts hundreds of composers together to write song for a singer, and makes more music club appear. It also "returns" the interests to composer, because I believe most of the interests in a song come from its melody, but not who sings it. It's right.
Virtual singer will not take the place of the human singer, but its meaning is just like the mean of Hatsune Miku's name, it represent the future. I'm glad to invite you know about it. Virtual singer always gives people a feeling when people hear it--that is what music should be. 

Night in Virginia Tech

I am a less sleep person. Everyday, I fall asleep after midnight and get up early. So fortunately, I can enjoy the nights in Virginia Tech. 

Night in the first week, I did not feel any effect of jet lag when I get here, what I did feel is "fresh". Everything was new and attracted me. After finished my work at night, I liked to stroll the campus, got to different buildings and  remembered the way I got there. By using this method, I quickly made a campus map in my mind. And I easily adapted to the new environment. I also tried to make conversations with people I met on the road and make friends with my neighbor in the residence hall. They were the people who helped me do not feel that "fresh" anymore and who I first had fun with. 

When the first semester began, a lot of works started. People became busier, night became more interesting, and I fell asleep later. Because my laptop have not been shipped to me (and it is still shipping...now...) , I had to spend lots of time at the library every night, to finish everyday's online courses and quizzes, and read the daily news. Usually I would find it was the next day from the clock on my smartphone screen when I left the library. During those time at library, I knew about there is always a old lady watch television drama every night, I could see a man often come to the library and watch cartoons, and every night there must be some people wear funny clothes reading in the library, library also has lots of fun. A number of students study until the next day, but they still looks active when they go back to the residence hall, it is really amazing. What about myself? To be honest, I am not that kind of student, although I stay till midnight too. I do spend many times on my study, but I also spend sometimes on the things I am interested in, like I used to spend two hours watching the video of a Hatsune Miku Concert. When leave the library, you will see a totally different picture. It is midnight, but many people running on the road, because there is few cars on the road and the road become safer. Other people may be playing volley ball or basket ball, the temperature is really comfortable to exercise at night, so I decided to run at night to. In addition, sometimes I come back to residence hall I can meet some people sit together and make joke with each other. They are funny and friendly, soon we make friends and I would join their party when I have free time.  Chatting, playing, reading....But the campus is so quiet and looks beautiful with the light. There are many fascinating thing at night in VT that deserve to have a try.
